Hours of Operation

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 6:30am-1pm, 5pm-9pm

  • Wednesday and Friday: 6:30am-1pm

  • Saturday: 9am-1pm,1st and 3rd only

  • Sunday: Closed

  • Hours may be contingent upon volunteer availability.

The Rec Center hours of operation will change as needed for church ministry programs, holidays, and other reasons as determined by Bonsack Baptist Church.

Holiday Hours

  • The Rec Center hours during holidays will be determined by volunteer availability, participant flow, where the holiday falls in the week, etc.

Inclement Weather Procedures

  • During inclement weather (i.e., snow, hurricanes, etc.) the Community Life Center will close with Roanoke County Schools. After the first day of closing, the Community Life Center’s hours will be determined on a daily basis (and may not mimic the schools after the first day).

  • Notice of hour changes due to inclement weather will be posted on the website and will be communicated via social media.

Memberships, Guests, and Fees

To enter the rec facility, each person has two options. They can become a member or use the facility as a guest.

  • Members – Membership denotes membership into the Rec Center and is not synonymous with church membership

    • Individual - $15 a month

    • Couple - $20 a month

    • Family (3+) - $25 a month

    • Access to Gym, Walking Track, Weight Room, Silver Sneakers program, $1 off aerobics classes

    • Group Exercise Classes priced as listed on Group Exercise material

    • Members under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times and still need their own card

    • Children under 6 are welcome with parent free of charge

    • Must have waiver and emergency contact information on file, including doctor’s permission if needed.

  • Guests

    • $5 per visit

    • Access to Gym, Walking Track, Weight Room

    • Aerobics Classes priced as listed

    • Guests under 12 must be accompanied by an adult

    • Must have waiver and emergency contact information on file, including doctor’s permission if needed.

  • Group Exercise

    • Price determined by class

    • Sign up is required and may be done at the door, but pre-registering online or by phone is preferred and has priority

General Code of Conduct

  • Respect yourself, others, and the facility

  • Participant must sign in at the front desk upon arrival to the facility

  • No profanity

  • No fighting

  • No alcohol

  • No tobacco/vaping

  • No drug use

  • No weapons

  • Further policies and rules can be found for each room further in the manual.

  • Violation of any of the code of conduct may result in dismissal from the facility and/or revocation of access.

  • First Infraction: Warning, explanation of rules, and/or suspension.

  • Second Infraction: Reminder, notification of parents (high school age & below) and/or suspension

  • Third Infraction: Parent conference (high school age & below) and/or suspension

  • Major infraction will be given to the Minister of Community Life in a written report.

  • Serious discipline problems will be dealt with by the Minister of Community Life and the Community Life Council.

Dress Code

  • The Community Life Center is a ministry of the Bonsack Baptist Church. In the interest of influencing others for Christ, the speech, dress, and conduct of all participants should be in accordance with the highest Christian standards. Any print or writing on clothing must be fitting for a Christian environment.

  • This is a co-ed facility and appropriate clothing must be worn at all times. The Community Life Center personnel will determine appropriate dress.

  • Shirts are required at all times. Sleeveless is ok, no thin straps.

  • No bare midriffs allowed.

  • Shirt logos must not go against the values of the church.

  • Shorts should be an appropriate length and be pulled up to your waist.

  • Appropriate shoes for gym use include tennis, running, basketball, and other soft sole shoes. Non- marking soled shoes must be worn in the gym.

Gym

  • No food or drink without a sealable cap

  • Shoes are required

  • No hard soled shoes

  • No hanging on the rim

  • Use balls and equipment appropriate to the activity

  • Do not enter the sound booth or green room without an authorized person

  • Only authorized personnel may use the controls to the goals

Weight Room

  • No children under the age of 12 allowed.

  • Children 12-14 must be accompanied by an adult

  • Re-rack weights after use

  • Limit 30 minutes on cardio machines if others are waiting

  • No food or drink without a sealable cap

  • No talking on cell phones while using equipment

Walking Track

  • No children under the age of 12 allowed.

  • Children 12-14 must be accompanied by an adult

  • Re-rack weights after use

  • Limit 30 minutes on cardio machines if others are waiting

  • No food or drink without a sealable cap

Kid’s Space

  • To be used only with approved personnel

  • Hours of operation and ages available will be posted at front desk and online

  • Fee for use will be posted at front desk and online if applicable

Front Desk

  • The front desk is the control area, only authorized personnel are allowed behind it.

  • Some equipment is located behind the desk and may be checked out by participants

Renting the Gym

There are limited rentals of the Rec Facility space by outside groups at this time. Reserving classroom space, the Atrium, or space in the Roanoke Hall may be done through the church office.

Volunteers

The Bonsack Baptist Church Community Life Center is primarily a volunteer run facility. Most of the staff are volunteers and view volunteering at the CLC as a great way to serve their community. There are multiple volunteer positions as delineated below and all are essential in order to maintain the functions and services of the CLC.

Recreation Volunteer: someone who volunteers in the recreation center part of the CLC.

Duties

  • Man the front desk

    • Checking people in

    • Watching the security cameras

    • Checking out equipment

    • Answer the phones

  • Interact with participants

    • Greet and get to know participants

    • Answer questions

  • Walk the facility

    • Maintain and clean equipment

    • Enforce Rules

Incentives

  • Each volunteer shift that directly relates to the operations of the rec center receives a free membership to the rec center.
